EMU Faculty of Law Providing Support for the Legal System in Turkey


Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Law, in collaboration with the Turkish Bar Association, and Chamber of Notaries, continues to support the promotion of new laws in Turkey and related application-based in service training projects.

Core laws such as the Turkish Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure Law and the Turkish Civil Code as well as Civil Procedure Law, Commercial Code and the Law of Obligations are being altered one by one, which affects the way of standards that were apparent for the last 85 years.
EMU Faculty of Law continues to support the campaign.  Changes in the “Civil Procedure Law” were put into effect throughout Turkey on October 1, 2011 and Assoc. Prof. Sema Taşpınar Ayvaz, Dean of Faculty of Law, attended numerous meetings regarding the changes. Within the context, the Dean of the Faculty of Law Assoc. Prof. Sema Taşpınar Ayvaz attended the “Civil Procedure Law” seminar as well as the seminars held in Elazığ, Malatya, Diyarbakır, Kayseri, Bursa, and Antalya.
Assist. Prof. Sema Taşpınar Ayvaz stated that they will continue to provide assistance for lawyers in better adapting to the changing laws as the laws which have changed are proving to be difficult to deal with.
In the coming days, a seminar entitled “The Developments and the Applications of Commercial Law” will be held and EMU Faculty of Law academic staff member Prof. Dr. Aynur Yongalık will be taking part in the event.
